Time to think about applying for places

Hinckley Times - - NEWS -

PARENTS and carers of youngsters due to start at seconday school next year are encouraged to apply for places.

The Leicestershire County Council website has a range of information and an interactive ‘Your Guide to education’ online to help focus your search and shortlist up to three preferred schools.

Open evenings at schools are a good way to meet teachers and see the facilities a school offers.

Ivan Ould, Leicestershire County Council cabinet member for children and families, said: “Last year 96 per cent of Leicestershire parents submitted their application online and we encourage people to use this approach.

“We also want to remind parents to maximise their opportunities by applying for three schools, including their catchment school.

“There is no automatic entry for any school, so it is very important for applications to be submitted before the closing date.”

The deadline for applications is October 31.
