Hinckley Times - - LETTERS -

AN appeal for volunteers has been launched by Hinckley District Scouts to allow for more budding adventurists to join.

There are currently far more young people on the waiting list to join the Scouts, meaning that leaders are having to refuse their request due to there not being enough adults coming forward to volunteer.

Jenny Clarke, from Hinckley District Scouts, is appealing for adults who enjoy the outdoors and adventure to embark on this role to enable them to continue to give the best opportunities for young people.

She said: “We don’t get paid, we are volunteers, we all have one thing in common and that is our belief in Scouting, we don’t turn any young person away no matter what their ability, race, religion or orientation.

“At the moment we have so many young people on the waiting lists that our leaders are having to refuse any more,

“We want to give our best for the young, to give them the opportunity to climb, abseil, shoot, go canoeing, the opportunities are amazing and the friendships you make are for life.”
