Anti knife crime campaign success

Hinckley Times - - NEWS -

A KNIFE crime campaign made good progress after successes in the town.

Officers said that six visits to habitual knife carriers in the Hinckley area helped educate them on the dangers of carrying knives.

The week-long operation was intended to reduce knife crime by targeting those who carry weapons and disrupt the supply of knives available to use.

It formed part of national Operation Sceptre.

Plain clothed officers from the Neighbourhood Policing and Priority teams conducted a number of targeted patrols in local parks in and around Hinckley.

Sergeant Glen Iceton, who helped coordinate the operation, said: “We’re already seeing results from our targeted work and will continue to work hard to catch those with no regard for the law.”

Officers were in other parts of Leicestershire throughout the week.
