Held in high praise by Hitler, their motto was ‘no pos­si­ble re­lief, un­til ex­tinc­tion’. the siege of leningrad would last 900 days. Ger­man ca­su­al­ties to­talled nearly 600,000. rus­sian ca­su­al­ties were nearly 3.5 mil­lion, in­clud­ing 1 mil­lion civil­ian deaths.
