Plan­ning Fees on the Rise

Plan­ning ap­pli­ca­tion fees in Eng­land rose by 20% on 17 Jan­uary 2018, up to £462 from £385, for those want­ing to build a new home. House­holder ap­pli­ca­tions for schemes such as ex­ten­sions, mean­while, rose from £172 to £206. As part of the changes, lo­cal plan­ning au­thor­i­ties will be able to charge a new fee of £402 per 0.1 hectare for ‘per­mis­sion in prin­ci­ple’ ap­pli­ca­tions.
