The walls are built from straw bale; the material has given the walls a rustic, undulating appearance. “We had to suss out how to install the straw bales. You need to drive hazel rods, 4ft long, through to make it stable, for instance.” The walls have been plastered in lime (again, a task undertaken by Justin) and finished in three coats of Farrow & Ball’s Lime White.
