RENOVATION EXPECTATIONS

The events of the last few months will no doubt have lasting effects on the way we go about our daily lives for years to come, and none more so than on what we demand from our homes. Looking at potential renovation projects, I’m now armed with a whole new set of priorities: is there a space to work from home during the day? Can I create a snug for when I feel like indulging in escapism during the evening? Does the garden have potential to become an outdoor sanctuary? I’m sure the aftermath of the lockdown will be fascinating to follow and, if you need advice on how to kickstart your building following the hiatus, read Bob Brancombe’s advice on page 109. I can’t wait to see how future self-builders and renovators embrace their own evolving priorities because, if anyone can make the best of a bad situation, they can.
