Wonky wallpaper

Homes and Antiques Magazine - - MAILBOX -

May’s delightful article on chinoiserie reminded me of a di cult situation my late parents-in-law experienced. They had brought back some lengths of beautiful wallpaper from Hong Kong in the mid 1950s. While they were out for the day, their decorators put up the new paper. But on returning home, they found that the Chinese lanterns hanging from flower-bedecked boughs had managed to defy gravity, and were now up above each branch. Luckily, most of the paper could be peeled o and was able to be rehung correctly the next day. JUNE KEEBLE, STORRINGTON
