WS Montpellier continues to surprise his owner and rider

Lizzie Webb.

“He’s one of our home-breds, by Monte Carlo and out of a Welsh cob/thoroughbred mare,” said Lizzie, who has taken the nineyear-old gelding up through the levels herself.

“We liked him when we backed him as he has a good head and found dressage fairly easy. When we gave up breeding, I decided to keep him as my riding horse.”

Monty is stabled with Lizzie’s trainer, Tony Cockshutt.

“Monty already has his piaffe and passage, so we’re planning to try an advanced later in the year and then maybe PSG,” Lizzie said.

“His breeding is not very fancy, but he has good conformation with the right attitude and the ability to sit.”

Fabulicious UDH excelled with Elder Klatzko at Burrows Court, winning at novice and elementary with plus-70% scores. The seven-year-old gelding competed successfully as a youngster with former owner Samantha Cawkwell, who was killed two years ago in an accident when turning out another horse.

“He’s with me to sell and I wanted to take him out to see what he was like,” said Elder. “He was an absolute angel to travel and compete. It’s unusual to come across a horse with so much talent and such a kind, genuine temperament.”

Maria Griffin nailed the novice and elementary freestyles with Cerruti II, while Shelly Harriss did the same with the part-bred Welsh section D mare Soden Fflach at medium and advanced medium — winning the latter with 80.67%.
