DOING A DOUBLE TAKE

-

THOSE watching might have been forgiven for wondering how Dain Atherden, who handled the Cuddy champion Castle Emperor (left) for the first time here, kept changing his clothes.

They were actually seeing double, as Dain’s identical twin Frazer was on hand to support him. Both brothers are farriers and used to show M&M ponies together — that must have confused the judges, lads — but Dain, who shoes at racehorse trainer Richard Hannon’s yard, now leaves the mounted stuff to Frazer.

“I’m sticking to in-hand and I’m hoping to get the job for the Cuddy final,” said Dain.
