Head of Qatar Racing Sheikh Fahad Al-Thani sustained a minor head wound when he fell in the Newmarket Town Plate on 13 July. He later tweeted it was “nothing too serious”.

Top jockey Frankie Dettori was back in action at Newmarket’s July meeting after several weeks on the sidelines with an injury. Frankie injured his arm in a fall in the paddock on 13 June.

British Equestrian Federation CEO Clare Salmon heads the British contingent in the Mongol Derby from 9 August. The 1,000km is touted as the world’s “longest and toughest” horse race.

Germany withdrew from the Falsterbo leg of the Nations Cup after dressage team debutante Andrea Timpe was hospitalis­ed as the result of a fall while working in at a national show.

New Zealand eventing performanc­e manager Graeme Thom has returned to the role after resigning in April due to a back injury. NZ Equestrian said he will continue until after WEG 2018.
