A LABOUR OF LOVE
GROOM of 20 years, Natalie Philp, hopes the EEA will help improve standards for workers.
She told H&H she was
“fed up” of the hours she was expected to work and the unrealistic timeframe she was given to carry out tasks.
“I’ve been given an hour and a half to do 11 horses and been paid £40 for a day’s work,” she said. “I love my job, but some [employers] put too much on.
“You feel bad because you try and cut corners, which you can’t with animals — it’s not fair to me or them.
“Sometimes I don’t think employers appreciate how hard it is keep on top of things. I hope the EEA will encourage them to step up.”
