Will your horse give you away?

DO you dream of riding your horse to your wedding, or perhaps having them as a guest at your reception to feature in the celebrations and photographs? Well, you are not alone.

A recent survey by the Blue Cross found that one in 10 Brits give their pet a central role in their big day. Of these, almost a quarter chose their horse.

H&H knows how important it is for some owners to have their equine companion with them.

Over the years many readers have shared tales, photos and videos of their horses taking centre stage at their nuptials, from serving as ring bearers to enjoying a pre- or post-vow gallop.

“I couldn’t imagine our big day without a horse — or two,” said H&H’s Rachael Turner (pictured).

“Thankfully Mary and Blue were very well behaved and I managed to avoid getting trodden or slobbered on!”

The research found that more than a quarter included their pet because it helped them to remain calm on the day.

A huge 92% said they wanted to walk down the aisle with their pet by their side — although H&H recommends checking the size of the aisle, and your horse, first.
