Sicab, 14-19 Nov, Seville, Spain
THE stunning city of Seville hosts a yearly bash centred around the PRE — the pure-bred Spanish horse. Book yourself a bargain flight and you could be watching these flamboyant equine athletes perform in a variety of modern and more traditional disciplines, ranging from dressage and driving to the cattle-working skills of doma vaquera.
Wander among the lines of well-behaved stallions and the pens containing mares and foals straight from pasture, or jostle for a ringside spot to see in-hand run-ups of the most promising youngsters.
This celebration of the PRE attracts many thousands of stylishly dressed spectators, who come to talk horses and indulge their passion of this celebrated breed. A new development this year for British fans is the COPA ANCCE PRE World Dressage Championships, for which seven qualifiers were held throughout the UK this summer. Among those in the running for a place in the final 12 are Vicki Thompson-Winfield and her pure-bred stallion Mango Jacaro, while Alice Hurley and Charlotte Crocker-Westlake have qualified in the small tour classes.
