Danielle rode Laura Clothier’s 11-year-old Calva La Cornilliere, by Negro: “Laura is heading off travelling and, luckily, we’ve managed to get both our medium and advanced medium summer qualifications in a short space of time.”

Based at the Kingfisher stud near Castle Cary, Danielle divides her time between dressage competition liveries and retraining racehorses.

Sarah Gorvett, from Bristol, headed the PSG at Kings Sedgemore in her final outing before representing Australia at the Hartpury CDI on Anne Whaley’s Ubi B.

“I was born in Melbourne, although my parents came back here quite quickly afterwards,” said Sarah, who was based with Adam Kemp aged 17 and now has lessons with him twice a month.

“Ubi B had an injury last year and I’m thrilled he’s back competing again, although it was 30°C out there today. We’re aiming for Hickstead and then hopefully abroad, although I have to share the horsebox with my brother, Guy, who rides for England in the mounted games team.”

Stephanie Sweet, who is trained by Virginia Peters and Spencer Wilton, headed the medium 75 at Bicton Arena on the eight-year-old Don Davidoff son, Dolle Jung, who is owned by Sarah Banwell.

“He won his medium regional last year, but the warm-up at the nationals blew his brain. We’ve been trying to desensitise him by taking him to shows with gymkhana ponies galloping about everywhere,” said Stephanie.
