MINI COUNTRYMAN

-

The new Countryman is the largest Mini in the brand’s history and a practical choice for both town and country. Mini has taken a successful recipe and super-sized it, while keeping the character that owners love. It’s a practical SUV, a more functional choice than the standard car, with good head and leg room in the back. Not only is the boot big enough for a pushchair or a couple of large cases, it also has a fold-out bench that transforms the back area into a place to perch. The interior is beautifully laid out and well-built with a retro feel.

This model drives like a Mini should and is a lot of fun, with a range of engines, including an economical hybrid. Its raised driving position gives a commanding view of the road and rear visibility is good while rear sensors – which are standard on all Cooper models – makes parking easier. It’s great to whizz around town in, while the higher ground clearance and

four-wheel-drive system give plenty of grip and confidence on narrow country roads.

All versions are well-equipped, with cruise control and satellite navigation fitted as standard. But watch out for the dazzling array of option packs, which can prove costly – although I’d recommend the good-value

TLC package covering servicing for five years or 50,000 miles, along with the cost of replacement parts.
