THE BIG NEW TREND

We’re seeing lots of intricately designed fabrics and flashes of metallic on furniture. The look is sophisticated glamour with indulgent textures coming from embroidered embellishments, gold trims, smoked glass and a mix of bold and bright hues. Plush accessories and textiles will feel opulent and comforting as winter approaches and we start spending more time indoors and enveloping ourselves in throws and blankets.

PERSONAL FAVOURITE

The teal floral print cushion that’s part of the Soho collection from Fox & Ivy, Tesco’s new premium homewares brand. The colour is rich and the gold embroidery will work well with other metallics in the room.

TOP TIPS

To dip your toe into this trend, introduce colour and texture through soft furnishings. Arrange a few statement cushions and a luxurious looking throw on your sofa to give the living room an instant update.

Pair metallics with bright hues and deep, rich blues and purples for real wow factor.

Use gold accessories, such as vases, candleholders and vintage-style mirrors, to add easy glamour to your home and bring a sheen to darker spaces.

Tate accent chair, £249; feather cushion, £18; mirror, £12; all from the Fox & Ivy collection for Tesco
