Al­though you might ex­pect bees to pre­fer the bright­est flow­ers in a gar­den, re­search shows that their favourites are ac­tu­ally aro­matic plants, in­clud­ing oregano and cer­tain types of laven­der. These plants are a good source of pollen and nec­tar, of which the bees col­lect by perch­ing on petals and in­sert­ing their pro­boscis into the flow­ers. KS
