Careers and Gap Fair at college

STUDENTS were given a valuable insight into the career options available to them.

More than 45 employers were represente­d at the Careers and Gap Fair held at Greenhead College.

The event, now in its sixth year, was set up by the college’s careers department.

Students receive the opportunit­y to gain an insight into the variety of options at hand after studying A-levels.

Rowena Burton, head of careers and leading promoter of the event, said: “As a college we appreciate that university isn’t for everyone and that there are some fantastic opportunit­ies out there.

“We want to help our students get a full picture of what their options are.”

More than 500 students took the chance to speak to representa­tives for companies and schemes including Marks and Spencer, Reliance Precision Ltd, Chadwick Lawrence, the Royal Navy and the National Business College.

First-year student Elliott Wood said: “It was good to see the college encouragin­g lots of post 18 options.”

He added that he was pleased to see alternativ­es to university represente­d.
