It’s a race to get on their bikes!

for the Shelley Pyramid schools, organised both of the races as part of a programme of 25 events throughout the academic calendar.

Mr Morris, who is also a PE teacher at Shelley College, said: “It shows by the number of children who have signed up and taken part that they really enjoy it.

“We had 50 more children competing in the junior event than last year.

“My son took part and he was very excited beforehand.”

Older pupils from Key Stage 2 classes, who would all be aged between seven and 11, cycled 1km earlier this month.

There were 120 participan­ts racing last week and 125, who would all be aged 4-7, this week.

The races took place at Scissett Middle School’s fields on Wakefield Road with help from sixth formers from Shelley College.

All participan­ts got certificat­es for taking part and three girls and three boys from each race were awarded medals.
