Anguish in the capital

TOWN suffered a first Premier League defeat of the season, going down 2-0 at West Ham United last night.

David Wagner’s side lost to secondhalf goals from Pedro Obiang – deflected off Zanka Jorgensen – and substitute Andre Ayew.

Skipper Tommy Smith said: “We didn’t think we were quite ‘at it.’

“The manager was keen to stress to us at half time we weren’t being brave enough on the ball. We are a good footballing side but didn’t get chance to show anyone that.

“I thought we defended relatively well but we lost 2-0, so we’re very disappointed.” Town’s record signing Steve Mounie is beaten in the air during last night’s 2-0 defeat by West Ham. Picture by James Griffiths
