Sam sows seeds of success with his giant sunflowers

-

THEY began as seeds but now Fenay Bridge youngster Sam Denson finds his sunflowers towering over him.

His proud mum Alison said: “Sam has grown these sunflowers from seeds and as you can see they are huge. They are at least 10, eight and six ft high.

“He is absolutely thrilled with the size of them as he planted around 15 seeds but only these three grew.”

Sam, a Dalton Junior School pupil has a long way to go though until he makes an impression on the Guinness book of records.

In June 2015 Guinness World Records reported that Hans-Peter Schiffer had managed to grow a sunflower measured at over 30ft.

The proud gardener from the town of Karst in Nordrhein Westfalen, Germany has held the record continuously three times previously in 2009, 2012 and 2013.
