Does rem­i­nisc­ing make ev­ery­one think they lived through the golden age of ra­dio, pop mu­sic or TV light en­ter­tain­ment?

As re­gards mu­sic, I think I did, with ev­ery­one from Budy Greco and Bobby Darin to the Bea­t­les.

But to be hon­est, the only ra­dio shows from that pe­riod I’d lis­ten to again are The Goons, Round the Horne and Be­yond Our Ken, which still stand the hi­lar­ity test of time.

Plus Mister Ed, of course, of course. AVE and his wife Sheila, who had been mar­ried 42 years, were tak­ing part in a Valen­tine’s Day game of Mr and Mrs at the lo­cal pub when the quiz mas­ter said: “Now Dave, to win the con­test, I want you to tell me the name of your wife’s favourite flower.” “Easy,” said Dave. “It’s Homepride.”
