“It is great that the club are now recognised as one of the top clubs by the British Institute of Karate Organisation,” enthused Hanson.
“We have enjoyed both national and international success over our 30 years.
“We have competed in Ireland, Holland, Germany, France and just this weekend we had club members competing in a tournament in Belgium.
“Since the club was founded we have had 42 students gain their black belt First Dan, 14 gain their Second Dan, five take Third Dan, four move up to Fourth and one has achieved a Fifth Dan.”
The Kirkburton club have also become involved in coaching in schools and with specialist groups – with wheelchair karate being one of their latest ventures.
