NILE Wilson described his Commonwealth Games experience as “incredible” after returning from Australia’s Gold Coast with five medals, including three golds.

The 22-year-old from Leeds claimed victory in the high bar, all-around and the men’s team event alongside Dominick Cunningham, James Hall, Courtney Tulloch and Max Whitlock.

There were also silver medals in the rings and parallel bars for the Olympic bronze medallist.

“We knew we had a fantastic chance at the Commonwealth Games in terms of gymnastics, it’s just about going out there and performing and we certainly did that as a team,” said Wilson (below).

“It has been an incredible Games, definitely.

“It’s one of the most incredible Games in terms of the environment.

“Thanks to UK Sport and the National Lottery we have all the support out there that we need.

“It was incredible, the whole environment and being at the Gold Coast, it was a truly incredible experience the atmosphere at that arena.

“It is honestly one of the craziest experiences, the best experiences I have ever had. I couldn’t be happier.

“Gymnastics, on behalf of myself, we absolutely smashed it.

“I loved every minute of it and I think all of Team England can be so proud of what we achieved there.”
