Vol­un­teers needed to spruce up Gol­car

A GROUP set up to en­hance Gol­car is hav­ing a spring clean day and needs more vol­un­teers.

The event will be on Sun­day, April 29, start­ing at 10am and fin­ish­ing around 3pm and is or­gan­ised by Gol­car Lily En­vi­ron­ment Group (GLEG).

Group chair­man Matt El­lis said the team will be putting new plants in and around the flowerbeds on Town End, weed­ing, prun­ing, pick­ing up rub­bish, painting bins and old rails black, work­ing with scouts to make bug houses and ho­tels for the small wood op­po­site Colne Val­ley Mu­seum and start­ing to put steps in the foot­path in the small wood.

The meet­ing point is on Town End near the bus shel­ter where peo­ple will need to sign in to make sure or­gan­is­ers have their con­tact de­tails and they can pick up a hi-vis vest.

The group is or­gan­is­ing a Pho­to­graphic Com­pe­ti­tion and silent auc­tion for Gol­car Lily Day on Satur­day, May 12, to raise money for Gol­car Lily Day and GLEG.
