Hill Top chippy is now among best in country
HILL Top Fisheries in Slaithwaite has been named one of the UK’s 50 best fish and chip takeaways.
The Royd Street chippy was the only one in the town to make the list, compiled by trade publication Fry Magazine.
To make the top 50, Hill Top Village Fisheries had to impress a mystery diner who marked the chippy on over 40 aspects of their business, from the quality of the food and customer service to cleanliness and value for money.
With the pass mark set high at 96%, Hill Top Village Fisheries scored 97% with the mystery diner praising the food and the friendly staff.
Hill Top Village Fisheries owner Oliver Morton said: “I am grateful to have made the top 50 list and couldn’t have done this without the support from our local customers.
“Me and my team put a lot of work into the shop and it’s great that this has been recognised by Fry Magazine.
“I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved at Hill Top Village Fisheries and hope to see this continued each year.”
Reece Head, competition organiser, said: “Once again we’ve got a fantastic list of fish and chip shops spanning the breadth of the UK who put their all into their business, their staff and their food.
“With margins getting tighter for fish and chip shop owners and more competition than ever before, it’s a tough business to be in these days, but these shops are going out there, investing in their business, motivating their staff, staying up-to-date with the latest food trends and embracing technology.
“But more importantly, they are giving their customers what they want - top quality food and great customer service in attractive, inviting surroundings.
“And that’s the key to a successful business and a successful future for fish and chips.” Rhiannon Batley, Oliver Morton and Nichola Mear with a sample of their quality fish and chips as Hill Top Village Fisheries of Slaithwaite, has been voted in the top 50 nationally
