A CARE home in Denby Dale is having an open day on Saturday.

The event at The Denby will be based on a 1940s theme and will feature a American jeep from World War Two called Willys Jeep.

Entertainment will be provided by Golden Age Songbird.

There will also be cake and craft stalls along with face painting and prize raffle with items donated by Denby Dale businesses.

All money raised will go into the residents fund to enable the home to take residents on trips and to provide entertainment and anything else they wish.

Home manager Emma Brown said: “It’s vital to the health and wellbeing of residents that we invite the local community in.

“All too often we only read about poor care and ignore the excellent care delivered across the UK.

“By inviting people in, that is the young and not so young, to see what we do and to meet our residents, we hope to dispel the rumours and let people see what our home is about and how we deliver kind care.”
