Brid must cash in on Railway

-

AFTER playing seven of this season’s eight competitive fixtures at the Hudgell Solicitors Stadium, Bridlington Town are on the road for only the second time at bottom-of-the table Harrogate Railway Athletic tomorrow.

The teams played at Queensgate earlier this season in the FA Cup Extra-preliminary Round when the Seasiders progressed in a 3-0 victory, but now meet in the NCEL Premier Division.

Town lost their only away game 4-1 at Maltby Main and now under Brett Agnew’s guidance they will be hoping to gain three points in their quest to climb from 15th.

They face what could be a more difficult task on Wednesday when they visit Worksop Town, who have won all three of their league games to date.

For the match at Harrogate they will be without defender Mike Thompson, who begins a three-match suspension following his red card against Consett last week.

Benn Lewis, who has made a return from Hall Road Rangers, will be added to the squad and Agnew is hoping to sign another defender before tomorrow’s game.

Harrogate have won just one league game to date and have exited three cup competitions at the first hurdle.

Their only victory came at Bottesford Town a month ago when goals from Sean Hunter (2), Daniel Blacker and Fraser Lancaster gave them a 4-0 win.

Although occupying last place, the Rail are level on points with Goole AFC and Athersley Recreation, two clubs that have recorded victories at Queensgate this season in the League Cup and League respectively.
