Police issue statement on drone and a helicopter operation

POLICE have descended on a west Hull as part of an operation involving the helicopter and a drone.

Those in the Newland Avenue and Goddard Avenue area will have been met by dramatic scenes with several police cars focused in Reynolds Street.

Humberside Police have confirmed they are involved in an operation but cannot provide any further details.

But they have moved to allay fears of any wider risk to the public.

A spokeswoma­n said: “We are dealing with an ongoing incident in the Reynoldson Street area of

Hull, there is no cause for concern of the public but for operationa­l reasons we are not able to provide any further detail at this time.”

The police helicopter has been heard hovering above Cottingham Road while police have been seen in Newland Avenue, Ella Street and Goddard Street.

Hull City councillor Marjorie Brabazon posted a message on Facebook saying: “A lot of police about in Ella Street and Newland and the police helicopter. Hope it’s not bad news.”

The police have been operating a drone in Reynoldson Street with several police cars at the scene.
