ONCE AND FUTURE: VOLUME ONE
MYTHS and legends abound in this tale of ancient evil.
When a group of nationalists use an ancient artefact to bring a wicked villain from
Arthurian myth back from the dead to gain power, ex-monster hunter Bridgette Mcguire escapes her retirement home and pulls her unsuspecting grandson Duncan, a museum curator, into a world of magic and mysticism.
A study of the complicated truths of our history and the power of family – especially one with a secret bunker of ancient weapons – to save the day, Volume One collects together the first six issues of this sweeping tale.
Written by Kieron Gillen and Russ Manning, with art by Dan Mora, Once and Future: Volume One is out now priced £12.99
GETTING IT OFF HIS CHEST
SHIA LABEOUF, inset, is an actor well known for throwing himself into his roles. For 2014’s war drama, Fury, he cut his own face, and pulled a tooth out for his role as a member of a tank crew.
Now the Transformers star has had his entire chest tattooed for his latest film.
The Tax Collector, reunites Labeouf with Fury director David Ayers, seeing him play Creeper, a man who collects money from gangs for a powerful crime lord.
FROM THE VAULTS
HAVING worked their magic to bring Westworld to the small screen, Lisa Foy and Jonathan Nolan are turning their attention to the Fallout game series.
The franchise’s developer, Bethesda Game Studios, will co-produce the series for Amazon Studios, to bring the game’s feel to the show.
Fallout is a post-apocalyptic RPG series set during the 22nd and 23rd centuries. Its atompunk retrofuturistic setting and art work are influenced by the post-war culture of 1950s America – as is the delightful Vault Boy, who acts as a sort of guide. There’s no news of when it’s likely to air, as Foy and Nolan have the fourth series of Westworld to worry about first.
