Is it possible to create my own personal dynamic desktop on a Mac?
The good news is that you can use a series of images or just one image to create your own Dynamic Desktop in macos, as long as you are running Mojave or Catalina. We’ll guide you through the process using a single image here that gets progressively darker throughout the day. Start off by creating a new folder in the Home>pictures folder and then name it something along the lines of ‘New Desktop’, then launch your Photos app and find a suitable image to use.
1 Export image
When you have found an image to use, go to File>export> Export 1 Photo and then choose your new folder as a destination. Now go to that folder.
2 Make copies
Select the image and press cmd+c then cmd+v to paste multiple copies. Double-click the first image to open it in Preview, then click Tools>adjust Colour.
3 Adjust levels
Take the Exposure down to zero and make each image progressively lighter and then darker again. Now go to System Preferences>desktop…
4 Select and test
Click ‘+’, navigate to your folder and click ‘Choose’. Then tick the ‘Change picture’ option and set it to ‘Every hour’. Add more image copies if needed.
