-

1 Grab the app

Touchcopy isn’t available from the Mac App Store. Go to wideanglesoftware.com/ touchcopy and click on the ‘Free Download’ button to grab the trial version.

2 Connect your ipod

Launch the app and then connect your ipod device to your Mac via USB. Once connected, your ipod will appear in the main window of the app. Click on ‘Connect’.

3 Pick a category

A selection of categories relating to the contents of your ipod will now be displayed. Click on your preferred category to start copying content. Here we picked ‘Music’.

4 Browse your files

All of your ipod music files will be neatly categorised by genre, artist and album. All of your saved playlists will also be accessible via the sidebar. Highlight some tracks to copy.

5 Highlight and copy

Try highlighting some tracks by clicking and dragging and then click on the ‘Copy to Music’ option at the top of the interface. Now open your Mac’s Music app.

6 Watch the magic

In Music, click on the ‘Artists’ section in your Library and then alphabetically scroll to the name of the artist whose tracks you just copied. You can see the files appear…

7 Copy to Mac

You can also copy selected music files to your Mac rather than straight to the Music app. Click ‘Copy to Mac’ and Touchcopy will create a folder on your desktop to copy the files to.

8 Change the folder

If you want to copy ipod files to a different destination on your Mac, go to Touchcopy> Preferences>copy to Mac and then click ‘Browse’ to choose a different destination.

9 Copy playlists

If you want to copy specific playlists to your Mac or Music then highlight one in the sidebar and then click on the copying option. The playlist will appear in your Music playlists.
