Add a mouse or trackpad

1 Grab your accessory

Update to ipados 13.4 and choose the accessory you wish to use. Plug a wired mouse or trackpad into the Lightening/usb-c port, using a USB-A adapter if required.

2 Launch Settings app

If you’ve used a wired accessory, the ipad will automatically detect it. For wireless devices, simply switch it on and place it close to the ipad. Launch the Settings app.

3 Start the pairing

An Apple Magic Trackpad or Magic Mouse will be ready to pair but check the instructions for activating pairing for third-party accessories. Select Bluetooth from the menu.

4 Select the accessory

Your accessory should appear as one of the options listed under ‘Other Devices’. Tap this and you’ll be asked what you wish to do. Select ‘Pair’ from within the pop-up box.

5 Enter a code

Should you be asked for a code, input 0000, otherwise you should see that your mouse or trackpad is now connected. At this stage, a circular cursor will appear on-screen.

6 Use the mouse

Make use of the mouse or trackpad to move the cursor, simply clicking any options to activate them. Alter the accessory’s settings by selecting General>trackpad & Mouse.
