Logic is such a powerful music-making tool it might appear rather intimidating to those just starting out on their musical journey. However, it does contain several nifty features designed to make things easier if you don’t have loads of musical experience. One of these features involves a builtin MIDI plugin called the Transposer. This examines the pitch of incoming MIDI notes and alters them to a predetermined alternative value, all in real time. The great thing for nonmusicians though, is that it contains preset scales that ‘quantise’ whatever comes in from your MIDI keyboard – so you can play whatever notes you like, and what comes out will always conform to the note pitches within your selected scale.
