Aggregate device creation in Audio MIDI Setup
Audio devices
An aggregate device is created and listed within the Audio MIDI Setup utility using the ‘+’ button in the bottom-left corner. Select it to view the parameters for the device on the right.
Input sources
Back within Garageband, the created aggregate device can be selected as the input source for the project. The constituent audio devices or subdevices are then assigned across multiple tracks by picking the various aggregate input channels.
Aggregate subdevices
Shown below the Clock Source and Sample Rate dropdowns is a colour-coded annotation detailing the selected Audio Devices within the aggregate, providing a useful guide to how the input and output channels are divided and numbered.
Device selectors
The available detected system devices are listed for selection within a checkbox list, toggling them for inclusion within the aggregate device itself. Drift Correction toggles synchronisation or ‘resampling’ of other devices to the selected Clock Source.
