Get search suggestions
When typing into Safari’s address box the selected search engine will suggest popular searches. Is this useful, an irritation, or even a privacy issue? Turn it on or off as you prefer.
Knowledge base More Safari secrets
Hidden features are everywhere and there are even more waiting to be discovered. 3D/long-press the ‘Done’ button on the tabs view to close all the tabs with one tap. 3D/long-press the reload button next to the address box to request the desktop website. Longpress the icons in the favourites view to edit or delete them.
Select your search engine
Choose the search engine to use from Google, Bing, Yahoo and Duckduckgo. If you value your privacy, set Search Engine to use Duckduckgo because it has less tracking than the others.
Quick Website Search
When website searches are used, such as at Wikipedia, Safari stores the details when the Quick Website Search setting is on. You can then search sites like Wikipedia by typing ‘wiki steve jobs’. Tap the search suggestion.
Preload Top Hit
When typing into the address box Safari suggests sites and queries. When this setting is on, Safari loads the page you most likely want for speed. However, it can increase mobile data usage.
