Siri’s virtual assistant rival Alexa can now be called upon direct from within its IOS app
Although you are almost certainly acquainted with Apple’s virtual assistant, Siri, it is not the only service which allows voice control. Its rivals include Google Assistant and Microsoft’s Cortana, but Amazon’s Alexa has arguably taken the lead, not only answering most queries you throw at it but proving expandable thanks to the availability of a huge number of third-party skills.
Alexa on IOS now gives you access to its entire featureset so anything you can do on an Echo device can be carried out on your iphone or ipad. It means you can listen to music, make use of skills, ask questions and even control your smart devices. But it goes further. If you ask for the weather, for instance, it will show the results onscreen rather than just inform you verbally.
