Essential chub tackle:

Improve Your Coarse Fishing (UK) - - Tactics -

One of the main benefits of using floating baits for chub is the minimal amount of tackle you need to take to the bank. Martin reveals the essentials he carries:

Rod and reel: An 11ft feeder rod with a bit of power to steer fish away from snags and a 4000 size reel loaded with 7lb line will beat any chub.

Landing net: Use a lightweight net and handle to make it easy to carry when roving.

Forceps: Chub can swallow a bait in an instant and this tool enables you to safely remove a hook from within the mouth.

Bait : Half a loaf of bread is all that is needed for a whole day of action. This is more than enough because you will barely loosefeed anything.

Hooks: Take a couple of packs of size 6 and 8 hooks to deal with slightly different hookbait sizes. Korda Mixas and Drennan Wide Gape Specialists are both ideal patterns.
