Improve Your Coarse Fishing (UK) - - Youriycf -

Just read your article on teaching them young and I'm pleased to say that I have done just that. My 11-year-old son has been fishing with me for a while now but his 12-year-old cousin has never fished before so I invited him on a trip with us a few weeks ago. The weather wasn't the best but que sera, sera Anyway, after a few casts he caught himself a small perch and didn't stop smiling so the rod and reel he was using I let him keep it, now he's asking when we're going next! As soon as possible...! Also a work colleague was asking about taking his fiveyear-old so again I've invited him along with me to fish a free stretch on our local River, the Tees. I told him I'll bring a little 4m pole and a rig with some maggots and find him a spot where the perch and roach will bend the tip all day, or for the hour or two he will be with me at least. Hopefully, these kids will see what I enjoy about fishing and, who knows, maybe their parents will join in and their friends... I don't mind a few more coming along to learn, regardless of age...
