A GREAT DAY CARPING
STEVEN SLADE, EMAIL
My mate Paul and I go fishing once a week regularly, something I always look forward to. I find fishing to be therapeutic in many ways and always have a better night's sleep following a day out. However, recently we went to a small farm not far from Market Harborough in Leicestershire. We have been a few times and always had a good time. In the past I have float fished and my mate has mostly legered. But this time we thought we would fish using feeders. Within the first five minutes of casting I was pulling in a 4lb carp and I was delighted. Then Paul was on his feet having hooked into a 6lb carp. At first I thought it was just a fluke but it just kept happening throughout the day. In fact I took my bait out of the water when I needed a drink or to eat! By four in the afternoon we had caught around 30 carp and a couple of perch between us. It was the best day's fishing for carp we had ever had. When I got home I felt great and also very tired. However, when I did get to bed I could not sleep as my left arm ached so much. Then I realised I had been lifting all those fish with the landing net in my left hand! Here’s to more days out like that one!
