It’s In­ter­na­tional Cof­fee Day

(as if we needed an ex­cuse!) so we’ll be cel­e­brat­ing by tak­ing our new ecof­fee cups (re­us­able, or­ganic bam­boo with a stylish deer de­sign – yes please) to our lo­cal barista and cel­e­brat­ing with a cin­na­mon latte (see page 11). Fun fact: the we­b­cam was in­vented at Cam­bridge Uni to let peo­ple know if their cof­fee pot was full!

Raid your wardrobe and find your bright­est pink pieces – The Big Pink is here for Breast Can­cer Aware­ness Month. Warm up with World Por­ridge Day. We love oats – they’re a great source of bre and are loaded with vi­ta­mins and min­er­als. Whether you like to go tra­di­tional or take them with a twist (grapes are our top­ping of choice), you can en­joy the health bene ts any day of the year. Host a Por­ridge Smiles party in aid of Mary’s Meals for a feel-good nish.

Even in cooler climes and times, city dwellers are still tak­ing to the roof tops to chill, min­gle and party. We’ve got plans to check out the an­nual win­ter pop-up at The Moroc­can Me­d­ina in the Queen of Hox­ton’s rooftop wig­wam. Think Mar­rakesh colours, sights and scents, along with en­tic­ing food and drinks.

Ball, the cre­ator of the smi­ley face, this cheer­ful day is ded­i­cated to mak­ing as many peo­ple as pos­si­ble turn their frown up­side down. This year’s theme is ‘lit­tle acts of kind­ness’ – what can you do to make oth­ers happy?

For­get one day, the whole of Oc­to­ber is a cel­e­bra­tory time in Tai­wan. A se­ries of na­tional hol­i­days, in­clud­ing the coun­try’s birth­day, that were tra­di­tion­ally held through­out the month mean that it is now known as

‘The Glo­ri­ous Month of Oc­to­ber’. Fes­tiv­i­ties hap­pen across the coun­try, in­clud­ing pa­rades, fire­works and fes­ti­vals.
