A whop­ping 61% of low-in­come fam­i­lies don’t have ac­cess to books at home and so the Lit­tle Free Li­brary, a not-for-pro t or­gan­i­sa­tion, is tack­ling the prob­lem head-on by set­ting up book swaps in com­mu­ni­ties across the globe.

The premise is sim­ple: take a book to one of their lit­tle wooden li­braries and leave with a new one. Through this small act, mil­lions of books are ex­changed each year, shar­ing a love of read­ing, pro­vid­ing re­sources to those who can’t af­ford them and bring­ing com­mu­ni­ties to­gether.
