Following 2015’s successful first series, Safe House has a new approach for its second. While it still focuses on a police safe house run by a former officer, this offering has a new cast, a new location and a whole new story.

This time we’re on the coast of Anglesey, at the house run by Tom Brook (Stephen Moyer), who once investigated the abductions of an assailant known as The Crow – and a recent incident gives him cause to think The Crow might be active again…

“On the surface Tom is a solid, confident man,” explains Stephen. “But there is something lurking from his past that he’s managed to hide. Having been a police officer, he’s now running a safe house and has reinvented his life. That’s as close as he’s getting to police work. But he’s almost as if a

sleeper agent – he catches a piece of news that brings something from his past to life, and it’s kind of like he’s been switched back on…”

Tom and his partner Sam (Zoë Tapper) run a sailing school, which meant that Stephen had to spend a fair bit of time in the water. Not that he minded too much…

“I had a couple of sailing lessons,” he recalls. “Then they put me in the boat with Zoë and set us loose

– a drone filmed us as we sailed out to sea. I still pinch myself sometimes because what I get to do for my job is such a privilege. There are moments where you rise above yourself, look down and go, ‘I can’t believe I get to do this!’”
