Last year’s revival of Cold Feet demonstrated that there was still plenty of love for Adam, Jenny, Pete, Karen and David among viewers, not to mention plenty of major life decisions for them to negotiate. They’re back on our screens again this week, and Adam is faced with a tricky dilemma regarding the next move in his love life…

“Adam is pretty happy, in a fairly good place,” hints James Nesbitt, who plays him. “But history has shown us that the minute Adam is content, he begins to look for reasons not to be. There has to be some kind of conflict, some element of danger, guilt or tomfoolery about him for Adam to function. The question of children comes up in this new series. Adam is a man of 50 faced with that question: ‘What’s next? Is there a next? Or am I just biding my time?’”

Meanwhile, as Karen launches her own publishing company, Jenny finds herself wistfully watching and slightly jealous of her friend’s career. But then Jenny ends up getting a work-related offer of her own…

“Jenny is doing well at work, in a storyline that’s there to get under the skin of Pete and Jenny’s relationship,” reveals Fay Ripley, who plays Jenny. “She’s looking at life and going, ‘Hang on a minute – is this it?’. Jenny has her eye on the prize – and she’s looking at Pete, who has his eye on the Pringles.’”
