Grief-stricken Lauren finally discovers that Steven was lying to her about being terminally ill with cancer – on the day of his funeral!
Following the horrifying blaze that claimed Steven’s life, Lauren is finding it hard to cope with her emotions and the guilt she feels about falling out of love with her fiancé. She’s been hitting the bottle to blot out the pain – a very bad idea, given that she’s a recovering alcoholic. So how will she react at learning that Steven made up a brain tumour to trap her into a marriage she didn’t want?
“Oh, this is going to send Lauren reeling!” predicts our Walford mole. “Trying to deal with her complex feelings about Steven has left Lauren in torment, and that’s before she has any clue about the depth of his deception, and how he was manipulating her and sleeping with her sister Abi as well.”
For her part, Abi has been struggling to keep her heartache hidden – but having lost the
man she loved, and whose baby she is carrying, Abi is more disturbed than ever. And Abi is even less impressed when she finds Lauren being comforted by former colleague Josh, given that she knows her sister was close to leaving Steven to be with him.
As the day of the funeral arrives, Lauren finally learns the terrible truth after a family liaison officer arrives at the Beale house and delivers the shock news that Steven didn’t have a brain tumour at all…
