Three teens have a tough time
PERI AND YASMINE DISCOVER LILY’S SELF-HARMING SECRET…
Yasmine and Peri make a shocking discovery this week, when they witness Lily self-harming.
As the three girls compete to win a much-sought-after internship in a journalism competition, Peri and Yasmine start to question their chances at victory when they learn that studious Lily intends to write an article about Scott. However, when the two best friends try to get one over on their rival, they’re horrified by what they see her doing…
“Peri and Yasmine think that Lily is getting changed in the toilets, so they plan to humiliate her by taking a picture of her scar and showing it to the whole school,” explains actress Ruby O’donnell, who plays Peri.
“But when they go to take the picture, they spot that she’s actually self-harming. Peri is shocked to see that this perfect girl has a darker side, and intrigued at the same time. She’s keen to know why Lily is doing this.”
Although the girls are taken aback by their encounter with vulnerable Lily, they decide to use her experience to their advantage, and write their competition article about her! In the end, Yasmine alters the story to make Lily anonymous – but when her piece wins the grand prize, Mrs St Claire is worried by its content. Calling all three teens – as well as Leela, Misbah and Diane – into her office, Sally drops the bombshell that she believes one of the girls is self-harming.
“None of the teens expect this when they enter the office, so everyone is panicking,” reveals Ruby. “It’s all very high tension, and then Peri covers for Lily and blurts out that the story was all fiction. I think Peri reckons this could be the start of something big. She sees a chance to build a friendship over this shared secret between these three girls.”
With all the adults taken in by Peri’s lie, Misbah, Leela and Diane later reconvene and are relieved that none of their girls are harming themselves. But the day marks a turning point for Lily, Peri and Yasmine. As the trio hang out in Lily’s room, it’s clear that they have all developed a strong bond.
“It changes from Peri and Yasmine ganging up on Lily, to all of them being best friends,” Ruby tells us. “There’s this huge secret between them that they feel the need to hold together, and as a result the girls all become much closer.”
Lily’s secret has a big effect on Peri and Yasmine. But now all the girls know how Lily has been coping with her pain, what will they decide to do next?
