Jane is blackmailed by Max

WHY DOES SHE MAKE THIS HEARTBREAKING DECISION?

- Kate White

There’s more misery for Ian this week, when wife Jane announces she’s leaving Walford – and him!

Her shock announcement comes after Ian agrees to sell up in Albert Square and make a new life nearer to Bobby’s young offenders’ unit. However, just as he’s got his head around selling the café to Weyland & Co and saying goodbye to his family and friends, Jane stuns him by explaining that she has decided to go it alone…

“It’s a horrendous moment for them both,” shares our Square snoop. “Ian is busy proclaiming his love for Jane before she drops the bombshell. Suddenly, everything that Ian holds dear is gone in a flash.”

Ever since her accident,

Jane has been struggling to cope with what happened to her. Steven is dead, but Max is very much alive and present in her world – and Jane knows that the two men wanted her gone for good. She’s terrified that Max might try to hurt her again, or go after her family. So when he arrives at the hospital ahead of the police, who want to find out what happened in the restaurant fire, Jane is gripped by fear.

Of course, Max’s main concern is that Jane doesn’t mention his role to the police, and he’s got ammunition to help him stop that happening. Warning Jane, sinister Max tells her that if she makes a mistake and comes clean to the detectives, there’s going to be hell to pay for the Beales.

It’s hard for Jane to let Max and his machinations prevent her from being honest, but she knows how far he’ll go to ensure she stays silent. The trouble is, Jane must now put all the blame on Steven, and break the news to Ian that his late son tried to take her life.

Ian is devastated to discover what Jane went through, and understands that the idea of returning to the scene of such horror is unimaginable for his wife. That’s why he eventually gets on board with her plan to move – but soon there’s more trouble for Jane around the corner.

“Max isn’t done with Jane yet, despite her toeing the line with the police,” says our source. “Jane can’t believe what he says, and it’s so bewildering that she starts to fight back. She may not have been Max’s biggest fan, but he’s reaching new depths of depravity.”

Can Jane make Max snap out of it, or will she be forced to leave before saving his soul?
