HOR­ROR IS A GENRE THAT ISN’T at­tempted on telly that of­ten, per­haps be­cause it’s much harder to main­tain an at­mos­phere of men­ace over six hour­long TV episodes than it is in a fea­ture film. But Re­quiem is a great ex­am­ple of how it can be pulled off as long as you have the right story – this tale of a cel­list who be­lieves she’s the child who dis­ap­peared from a Welsh vil­lage two decades ago is full of twists and unan­swered ques­tions, and it makes ex­cel­lent use of its re­mote, haunt­ing set­ting. It leaves us feel­ing prop­erly shiv­ery ev­ery episode – and not just be­cause it’s win­ter…
