MILLTEK CREATE ‘ACTIVE SOUND’

Japanese Performance - - NEWS -

Performance exhaust manufacturer Milltek Sport is about to change the game with their new ‘Active Sound’ technology. They’re currently performing final beta testing and the final product should soon be available to fit any petrol, diesel or even electric car. So what is it? In short, it’s a way of choosing how your exhaust sounds. So your diesel daily-driver can sound like a V8 monster at the touch of a button. The system works by fitting a carbon-fibre speaker into a motorsport-grade stainless steel housing. That provides the sound, which is controlled by a clever algorithm that changes the sound to match the road speed and throttle position, so it should be extremely realistic. You’ll be able to select from a range of engine sounds, all of which can be selected using the accompanying smartphone app. This isn’t like those cheap systems that play noises through your car’s speakers, either. The noise literally comes out of your car’s tailpipe. It’s as realistic as fake gets. This should be great fun to play with when Milltek put it into production.
